Sandboxed code execution via unsanitized entity names
Published Mar 6, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025
Cross-site scripting in QuickEntity Editor before 1.28.1 allows attackers to execute code in its browser sandbox via a crafted entity file. Tree and MinimalTree pass entity and comment names into jsTree text fields without neutralizing script-capable HTML; the fix forces text rendering and sanitizes those names. Loading a file containing a script tag in an entity name is sufficient, and execution remains bounded to the application's browser sandbox.
