CVE-2023-27470Public exploit

Local privilege escalation via updater pseudo-symlink race

Published Sep 11, 2023 · Updated Sep 26, 2024

A TOCTOU race in N-able Take Control Agent 7.0.41.1141 and earlier allows local users to delete arbitrary files as SYSTEM. BASupSrvcUpdater.exe checks and later uses the PushUpdates path without preventing a standard user from replacing it with a pseudo-symlink. Exploitation requires low-privileged local access and winning the race, after which deletion of privileged files enables SYSTEM-level escalation.
