CVE-2023-27406

Code execution via crafted SPP file parsing

Published Mar 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Siemens Tecnomatix Plant Simulation before 2201.0006 allows attackers to execute code via crafted SPP files. The SPP parser writes beyond a stack buffer while processing malformed file data; Siemens has not disclosed the affected function or field. Exploitation requires a user to open an untrusted file, and resulting code runs in the current process; unsuccessful exploitation can crash the application.
