Code execution via Calculate-event object reuse
Published Jul 19, 2023 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Use-after-free in Foxit PDF Reader 12.1.2.15332 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through a crafted PDF. A field Calculate action calls deletePages repeatedly, freeing page-associated JavaScript objects that the event path later reuses without validation. Exploitation requires a user to open the document, or to visit a malicious site when the browser plugin extension is enabled, and code runs in the user's context.
