Unauthenticated code execution via serialized form values
Published Feb 28, 2023 · Updated Mar 11, 2025
Deserialization of untrusted data in SPIP before 4.2.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through public form values. The protege_champ() sanitizer uses a pattern that leaves crafted PHP serialized strings intact, allowing an oubli field value to reach SPIP's template evaluation path. The password-reset form requires no authentication, and successful exploitation runs code in the web application's security context.
