Root code execution via oversized logging data
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Sep 18, 2024
Stack-based buffer overflow in TP-Link Archer AX21 1.1.3 Build 20221125 allows network-adjacent attackers to execute code as root. The tdpServer logging path on UDP port 20002 copies user-supplied data into a fixed-length stack buffer without first validating its length. No authentication or user interaction is required; reachability from an adjacent network permits complete control of the router process.
