Code execution via freed Annotation object
Published May 3, 2024 · Updated Aug 2, 2024
Use-after-free in Annotation handling in Foxit PDF Reader before 12.1.1 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted PDFs. JavaScript execution can retain an Annotation object or pointer after it has been freed, and later operations dereference that stale memory. The target must visit a malicious page or open a malicious file; successful exploitation runs code in the current process.
