CVE-2023-27293Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Session abuse via unsanitized questionnaire answers

Published Feb 28, 2023 · Updated Mar 21, 2025

Stored cross-site scripting in OpenCATS 0.9.6 allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript in an authenticated reviewer's browser. The candidate application form stores questionnaire answers without sufficient sanitization, and the review view renders submitted script content as executable markup. An unauthenticated job applicant can trigger execution only when an authenticated user reviews the submission, enabling cookie theft and actions in that user's session.
