CVE-2023-27272Network attack vector

Password-policy bypass via accepted password reuse

Published Apr 14, 2025 · Updated Aug 17, 2025

Weak password requirements in IBM Aspera Console 3.4.0 through 3.4.4 allow remote authenticated users to reuse passwords at first login. The new-user login workflow accepts a previously used password, but IBM has not published the validation locus or comparison logic responsible. Reachability requires an authenticated low-privileged account and unspecified high-complexity conditions; the flaw weakens password-change enforcement.
