Authenticated system outage via directory traversal
Published Mar 14, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025
Directory traversal in SAP NetWeaver AS for ABAP and ABAP Platform allows remote authenticated users to overwrite operating-system files. SAP identifies the affected locus only as an available service and does not publicly name the endpoint or the missing pathname-validation operation. Non-administrative authorization is required; crafted paths cannot read data, but overwriting critical OS files can make the system unavailable.
