CVE-2023-27170Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated arbitrary file write via siteName traversal

Published Oct 26, 2023 · Updated Sep 10, 2024

Path traversal in Xpand IT Write-Back Manager 2.3.1 allows remote authenticated users to write uploaded files outside the intended directory. ThemesManager.uploadLogoFile concatenates the unvalidated siteName value with the file extension and writePath, allowing dot-and-slash sequences to redirect the destination. High-privilege access to an upload feature is required; exploitation can overwrite server files or place executable content in the web tree.
