Account access via unlimited login attempts
Published Oct 23, 2023 · Updated Sep 11, 2024
Improper authentication throttling in the DECISO OPNsense 23.1 login page allows remote attackers to gain account access by password guessing. The login page accepts more than 100 repeated username-and-password submissions without rate limiting or account lockout and continues testing each password. No prior account access or user interaction is required, but successful access still depends on guessing a valid password for a configured account.
