Credential disclosure via reused AES key-IV pair
Published Jun 6, 2023 · Updated Jul 9, 2026
Weak credential protection in TP-Link Tapo C200 V3 (EU) firmware 1.1.22 Build 220725 allows physically proximate attackers to recover credentials. The wlan-manager binary uses the same embedded AES key and initialization vector across cameras to encrypt stored Wi-Fi and Tapo account data. Exploitation requires physical access to dump the camera's flash memory, after which the shared parameters decrypt the Wi-Fi password and account identifier.
