Stored XSS via incomplete paste-content escaping
Published May 4, 2023 · Updated Jan 29, 2025
Stored cross-site scripting in Microbin 1.2.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary scripts in a viewer's browser. The Pasta::content_escaped method escapes only backticks and dollar signs, then embeds paste content without HTML entity encoding. A user with paste-creation access can store a closing script tag; execution requires another user to open the crafted paste and enables page-content modification or redirection.
