Authenticated file disclosure via forged session UrlHandle
Published May 22, 2023 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Path traversal in Sitecore Experience Platform 10.2 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to download arbitrary server files. The PageDesigner change-device command stores client-controlled text in a session-backed UrlHandle that DownloadPage uses as a file path without rejecting ../ sequences. Any authenticated Sitecore user can plant a forged handle and pass its session key to download.aspx, exposing readable files such as web.config.
