Unauthenticated account takeover via unverified Facebook email
Published May 19, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Authentication bypass in BP Social Connect 1.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to access any existing WordPress account via Facebook login. The Facebook login handler trusts the supplied Facebook email to select a local WordPress user without verifying that the social identity belongs to that user. Knowledge of an existing account's email address is sufficient, including for an Administrator account, and no prior site authentication or user interaction is required.
