Script execution via unsanitized login token reflection
Published Mar 28, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Reflected XSS in ATutor 2.2.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary script in a user's browser via a crafted login token. The login flow copies the POST token into the session, and login.tmpl.php emits it unescaped inside encrypt_password() JavaScript, allowing the value to break out of the string and function. Exploitation requires a user to submit or visit an attacker-controlled request, after which the script runs in that user's ATutor origin.
