Process crash via unchecked missing YANG string
Published Apr 11, 2023 · Updated Feb 11, 2025
NULL pointer dereference in libyang 2.0.164 through 2.1.30 allows remote attackers to crash a parsing process via malformed YANG input. lysp_stmt_validate_value accepts a missing required YANG string, then dereferences the NULL val pointer while validating an extension statement. Exposure requires a libyang-based application to parse attacker-controlled YANG schema content; successful exploitation terminates the parsing process without reported data disclosure or modification.
