CVE-2023-26852Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Administrator code execution via PHP plugin upload

Published Apr 12, 2023 · Updated Feb 10, 2025

Arbitrary file upload in Textpattern 4.8.8 and earlier allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute PHP code. The Plugins panel accepts a .php plugin and installs its contents beneath the web-accessible textpattern/plugins directory, allowing the uploaded script to run. Administrator credentials are required, and Textpattern disputes the security finding because installing executable plugins is intended administrator functionality.
