Administrator account creation via forged UserEditor request
Published Apr 25, 2023 · Updated Feb 3, 2025
Cross-site request forgery in ChurchCRM 4.5.3 allows remote attackers to grant administrator privileges through a forged request. UserEditor.php processes a cross-site POST that selects a PersonID, creates a user, and accepts administrator and permission fields without anti-CSRF validation. Exploitation requires an authenticated administrator to visit attacker-controlled content, after which the selected person gains an administrator account and associated permissions.
