Account takeover via unauthenticated password reset
Published Mar 31, 2023 · Updated Feb 18, 2025
Authentication bypass in Gladinet CentreStack before 13.5.9808 allows remote attackers to take over any valid account through password reset. The change-password controller accepts an unauthenticated request whose modified hfTicket value names the target user, then replaces that account's password without validating the prior password. Only a valid username is required, and takeover inherits the selected account's permissions, including administrative access when an administrator is targeted.
