Authenticated site outage via unescaped cache character
Published Apr 28, 2023 · Updated Jan 31, 2025
Denial of service in mccms 2.6.1 allows remote authenticated users to make the website return HTTP 500 errors through cache settings. The cache_save function in sys/apps/controllers/admin/Setting.php writes the Cache_Rand value into cache.php without neutralizing a trailing backslash, which escapes a quote and leaves generated PHP invalid. Access to the backend cache configuration is required; a crafted Cache_Rand value leaves the website returning HTTP 500 responses.
