Authenticated API access via unchecked profile field
Published Sep 24, 2024 · Updated Sep 24, 2024
Authorization failure in CS-Cart Multi-Vendor 4.16.1 allows remote authenticated users to create API keys through profile updates. The profile update handler accepts an injected user_data[api_key] field and writes its arbitrary value to the backend database without authorization. A signed-in low-privilege customer account is required, and the resulting key provides API access under that account's assigned privileges.
