Service interruption via oversized parental-control URL
Published Jun 29, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Stack overflow in D-Link DIR-823G 1.02B05 allows remote attackers to interrupt router service through crafted parental-control URL data. SetParentsControlInfo uses each URL parameter's own string length as the copy limit instead of enforcing the destination buffer's capacity. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the public proof of concept demonstrates the overflow without establishing code execution.
