Unauthenticated password reset via failed password processing
Published Jun 28, 2023 · Updated Nov 27, 2024
Password reset in D-Link DIR-823G firmware 1.02B05 allows remote attackers to clear the web-management password via HNAP. The SetMultipleActions handler dispatches nested SetPasswdSettings input, whose password-processing failure path writes an empty password. No prior privileges or user interaction are required; a crafted SOAP request changes the administrator credential and enables management access.
