Authenticated root command execution via shell metacharacters
Published Feb 27, 2023 · Updated May 5, 2025
Command injection in ABUS TVIP 20000-21150 cameras allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands as root over HTTP. The wireless_mft CGI handler processes the ap field as a shell command without rejecting metacharacters such as semicolons, pipes, or line feeds. Access requires administrative credentials, but the published demonstration used a documented default manufacturer account and obtained root-level command execution.
