Unauthenticated root command execution via writable SNMP extensions
Published Feb 26, 2023 · Updated Mar 11, 2025
Command injection in ASUS ASMB8 iKVM firmware 1.14.51 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code through SNMP. The writable SNMPv2 NET-SNMP-EXTEND-MIB accepts an attacker-selected executable and arguments, then invokes /bin/sh when the extension is queried. Network access to SNMP and the writable private community is sufficient; commands run with root privileges and can fully control the management controller.
