Privilege escalation via cleartext password-file tampering

Cleartext credential storage in Yokogawa Electric Corporation CENTUM allows local users to escalate privileges by altering its password file. CENTUM Authentication Mode stores sensitive password data in cleartext on the product computer, allowing crafted file changes to alter managed-user privilege. Exploitation requires host credentials or shared-folder access and, for CENTUM VP, CENTUM Authentication Mode; elevated rights permit higher-privilege control-system operation.
