Credential disclosure via ARI global variable lookup
Published Apr 26, 2023 · Updated Feb 3, 2025
Credential exposure in Sangoma FreePBX Linux 7 1805 through 2302 allows remote authenticated users to retrieve database and AMI passwords. These ISO images register AMPDBUSER, AMPDBPASS, AMPMGRUSER, and AMPMGRPASS as Asterisk global variables, so the ARI variable endpoint returns them in cleartext. Valid ARI credentials and network access to the interface are required; disclosure enables direct access to MariaDB/MySQL and the Asterisk Manager Interface.
