Authenticated file disclosure via privileged scheduled queries
Published Apr 25, 2023 · Updated Feb 4, 2025
Improper access control in CFEngine Enterprise before 3.21.1 allows remote authenticated users to read files on the hub. Scheduled Reports runs user-supplied PostgreSQL queries with elevated database privileges and no restriction on file-reading functions such as pg_read_binary_file. A non-admin Mission Portal account must receive the non-default Scheduled Reports permission; readable data is limited to files accessible to cfpostgres, including database contents, logs, hashes, and configured LDAP credentials.
