CVE-2023-26513Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service interruption via repeated merge-root path

Published Mar 20, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Excessive iteration in Apache Sling Resource Merger 1.2.0 through 1.4.0 allows remote attackers to interrupt service via crafted paths. MergingResourceProvider.getRelativePath removed one merge-root prefix but accepted a second prefix, causing repeated merged-path processing and high CPU use. Unauthenticated network requests can consume server CPU until the Sling service becomes unavailable; no data read or write is reported.
