Page denial of service via parser stack exhaustion
Published Mar 2, 2023 · Updated Mar 5, 2025
Denial of service in affected XWiki Platform releases allows remote authenticated users to make pages and indexes unusable via page content. DefaultContentParser.parse delegates deeply nested XWiki 2.1 group blocks to recursive parsing without containing the resulting StackOverflowError, so title rendering propagates the failure. Write rights are required; a crafted saved page can disable that page and related indexes while also preventing normal editor-based removal.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
