CVE-2023-26477Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated code execution via unescaped theme name

Published Mar 2, 2023 · Updated Mar 5, 2025

Eval injection in affected XWiki Platform releases allows remote attackers to execute server-side scripts through newThemeName. FlamingoThemesCode.WebHomeSheet inserts the newThemeName request value into a translation macro parameter without escaping XWiki syntax, so injected Groovy, Python, or Velocity macros are evaluated. No authentication or user interaction is required; successful exploitation runs code in the server context and permits reading or changing hosted wiki data or interrupting the service.
