Authenticated file disclosure via enabled external entities
Published Feb 21, 2023 · Updated Mar 14, 2025
XXE in php-saml-sp before 1.1.1 and 2.x before 2.1.1 allows remote authenticated users to read files as the webserver user. Its XML parsing path enables external entity resolution with LIBXML_DTDLOAD and LIBXML_DTDATTR, so crafted SAML XML can resolve local-file URIs. A user who can submit XML to an affected service can disclose files readable by the webserver account; integrity and availability are unaffected.
