Arbitrary file write via ZIP path traversal
Published Nov 1, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025
Path traversal in Hitachi Energy MACH System Software before 7.17.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to write arbitrary files. McFeeder uses an outdated archive-extraction library that fails to confine crafted ZIP entry paths to the intended extraction directory on the MAIN computer. Access to the authenticated McFeeder service endpoint is required; exploitation writes attacker-chosen files, with no reported code execution or service interruption.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
