Password disclosure via plaintext SMTP credentials in logs
Published Jun 13, 2023 · Updated Oct 22, 2024
Sensitive-data exposure in affected Fortinet FortiOS and FortiProxy releases allows attackers to read SMTP passwords from log events. The logging path records SMTP password material without preserving its ciphertext protection, leaving the credential readable in plaintext. Attackers require low-privileged access to affected device logs; affected releases include FortiOS 7.2.0 through 7.2.5 and FortiProxy 7.0.0 through 7.0.10 and 7.2.0 through 7.2.1.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
