CVE-2023-26126Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Unauthenticated file disclosure via unvalidated request paths

Published May 10, 2023 · Updated Jan 27, 2025

Path traversal in m.static 2.2.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to read files outside the configured web root via crafted URLs. The requestFile path joins options.cwd with req.url without validating or neutralizing parent-directory segments before createReadStream opens it. An unauthenticated HTTP request is sufficient when the server can read the targeted file; the flaw discloses file contents but does not modify them.
