CVE-2023-26118Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Browser hang via backtracking URL validation

Published Mar 30, 2023 · Updated Nov 3, 2025

Regular expression denial of service in Google AngularJS 1.4.9 and later allows remote attackers to interrupt browser execution. The input[url] directive applies URL_REGEXP to a crafted scheme followed by many slashes, causing catastrophic backtracking and excessive CPU use. Exposure requires an AngularJS application to pass attacker-controlled text through an input type=url validator; the affected browser thread can hang.
