Client-side hang via trailing-slash URL processing
Published Mar 30, 2023 · Updated Nov 3, 2025
Regular expression denial of service in Google AngularJS 1.0.0 through 1.8.3 allows attackers to hang a browser via a crafted URL. Route.setUrlParams applies an anchored trailing-slash regular expression to the computed URL, causing excessive backtracking on long slash runs followed by a non-slash. Execution requires an application to use ngResource with attacker-influenced URL data; the originating Snyk advisory now disputes the issue and calls it not a vulnerability.
