Unauthenticated access via forgeable JWT signatures
Published May 2, 2023 · Updated Jan 30, 2025
Authentication bypass in European Chemicals Agency IUCLID 5.15.0 through 6.27.5 allows remote attackers to gain application access. The server verifies JSON Web Tokens with a weak hard-coded signing secret, so attackers who obtain that shared value can mint tokens the application accepts as authentic. No credentials or user interaction are required, and forged tokens grant access to protected IUCLID functions and data under the asserted identity.
