CVE-2023-26084Network attack vector

Traffic corruption via zero-length authentication tag

Published Mar 15, 2023 · Updated Feb 27, 2025

Authentication bypass in Arm AArch64cryptolib before 86065c6 allows man-in-the-middle attackers to corrupt decrypted data. In armv8_dec_aes_gcm_full(), an improperly initialized tag-length variable makes the computed AES-GCM tag appear zero-length, so ciphertext modifications pass authentication. Exploitation requires an application to use that API and an attacker able to alter protected traffic; successful modifications produce random cleartext corruption.
