CVE-2023-26068Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via unsanitized fax settings

Published Apr 10, 2023 · Updated May 5, 2025

Command injection in the embedded web server of affected Lexmark devices allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. The fax trace settings endpoint passes the FT_Custom_lbtrace parameter into a Bash eval command without sanitizing shell metacharacters. Low-privileged network access is normally required, but devices configured with "Set up Later" and no administrator expose the endpoint without authentication; injected commands run with embedded-web-server permissions.
