CVE-2023-26048Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service interruption via unbounded multipart field buffering

Published Apr 18, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

Memory exhaustion in Eclipse Jetty 9.4.50 and earlier, 10.0.0 through 10.0.13, and 11.0.0 through 11.0.13 lets remote attackers interrupt service. In Request.getParts, Jetty copies every non-file part into a ByteArrayOutputStream before enforcing the aggregate form-content limit, so a large field remains in heap memory despite fileSizeThreshold=0. The unauthenticated path exists only for multipart-enabled servlets that call getParameter() or getParts(); exhaustion can delay responses, although the JVM can recover.
