Expired-message disclosure via missing API expiration filtering
Published Feb 27, 2023 · Updated Mar 10, 2025
Information disclosure in Nextcloud Talk 15.0.0 through 15.0.2 allows remote authenticated users to read expired chat messages. ChatController returns expired message records through the chat API without checking expiration timestamps when the expiration cron job fails to delete them. Access requires conversation participation, a misconfigured cron job, and interaction that loads chat history; exposure is limited to messages the interface has hidden as expired.
