Unauthenticated code execution via unsanitized monitor ID
Published Feb 25, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025
Command injection in ZoneMinder before 1.36.33 and 1.37.0 through 1.37.32 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary OS commands. The unauthenticated snapshot action accepts attacker-controlled monitor_ids, constructs a Monitor object, and passes its Id into TriggerOn, which invokes shell_exec. No account or user interaction is required; successful exploitation executes commands in the ZoneMinder server process context without an availability impact reported by the vendor.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
