Public repository cloning bypass via IP restriction check
Published Jun 7, 2023 · Updated Jan 7, 2025
Origin validation error in GitLab EE allows remote attackers to clone public repositories from disallowed IP addresses via Git operations. The group IP-restriction check is bypassed during clone authorization, so requests from blocked addresses are accepted for public projects. The attack requires a public project in a top-level group with IP restrictions; repository contents are disclosed, while write and service-interruption impacts are not indicated.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
