CVE-2023-25819Network attack vector

Restricted tag disclosure via unfiltered topic metadata

Published Mar 4, 2023 · Updated Feb 25, 2025

Information disclosure in Discourse 3.1.0.beta2 allows remote attackers to read restricted tag names through public topic metadata. The topic response passes every associated tag into crawlable metadata without applying the requesting viewer's tag-visibility rules. Exposure requires tagging to be enabled and a public topic to carry a restricted tag; the consequence is limited to disclosure of those tag names.
