Stored XSS via unescaped item descriptions
Published Jul 17, 2023 · Updated Oct 30, 2024
Stored XSS in InventoryPress 1.7 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute scripts through a crafted item description. The plugin stores the Description field without sufficient sanitization or output escaping and renders it when the item is edited or viewed. Author-level access is required to create or update an item, and the payload runs in the browser of a user who opens the affected item.
