CVE-2023-2574Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Authenticated root command execution via device name

Published May 8, 2023 · Updated Feb 13, 2025

OS command injection in Advantech EKI-1521, EKI-1522, and EKI-1524 through 1.21 allows remote authenticated users to execute commands as root. The setsys handler accepts shell metacharacters in the sys_name POST value and later executes the stored device name during reboot. Administrative web access and a subsequent reboot are required, and successful exploitation grants full control of the appliance and its connected serial peripherals.
