Undefined behavior via invalid DOM downcast
Published Jun 19, 2023 · Updated Dec 11, 2024
Invalid downcast in Firefox before 110 allows remote attackers to trigger undefined behavior through DOM table-selection processing. GetTableSelectionMode statically casts an nsHTMLDocument object to nsIContent before invoking IsHTMLElement, despite the object not deriving from nsIContent. The public report reproduces the condition only in a CFI-instrumented crashtest and states that runtime behavior appears unchanged, so no concrete data or service consequence is established.
